THE REASON THAT I AM RUNNING FOR THE 26TH
CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA
My name is Mark Butler. In the Declaration of Independence it
states that we " are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable
rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness." I believe in these rights and that the
constitution was written to restrain the federal government from
infringing upon these rights.
I was born in Mt Vernon, Illinois and raised in a christian
home. My parents instilled in me a sense of Discipline, respect for
others and a love of life. My family has served and is currently
serving in the Military. My Nephew is currently serving in Iraq with the
United States Army. I served 20 years in the United States Marine
Corps stationed in California, Okinawa, Japan and Brooklyn, New York.
One of my Brother's and Sister-in-law also served in the Marine Corps
and another brother in the United States Air Force. My father and two
of my uncles served in the United States Army one serving in Viet Nam
and another uncle that served in the United States Navy. My Grandfather
served in the United States Army, 96th Infantry Division, during WWII
and was awarded the Bronze Star during the battle of Leyte,
Philippines. My Great, Great Grandfather served in the civil war.
My family has honorably served this country and defended it
during war time and during peace. I feel that I must again defend the
principles that this country was founded on. The federal government has
expanded to the point that it is infringing upon our rights and needs
to be restrained to allow the people to thrive and make this country great
again. The people of the United States and of the 26th Congressional
district of California deserve not to be restrained in their pursuit of
happiness.
The Congress has passed and are trying to pass laws that are
unconstitutional and infringe on the rights of the States. The people
of the United States and of the 26th Congressional district of
California must stand up and elect Representatives that believe in
restraining the government and allow the people to pursue their dreams.
I also want my daughter and her family to have the same opportunities as I have had in my life.
